When I first started my business I often felt alone and lost. I didn’t know where to look or who to look to. I began browsing the web looking for inspiration and guidance. Slowly I began to stumble upon bloggers sharing their growth and openly expressing their successes and failures. And while this helped me in the very early stages of my growth, I really didn’t know if I was being guided in the right way.
Over time, I too learned, grew and blossomed into the entrepreneur I am today. It wasn’t the quickest or easiest journey. In fact, many times my motivation began to waver and my inspiration became bleak.
It took so much effort. But I didn’t give up. I knew being a photographer and entrepreneur was my passion and I was going to make it work for me. When I eventually became a full-time entrepreneur I knew I needed to make another change. I needed to connect with other entrepreneurs. Why? Outside of networking, it was about understanding. They would understand where I was coming from and where I was attempting to go. They had a respect for the hustle and a mutual desire to gain inspiration and motivation from likeminded peers.
When you work for yourself you are most often by yourself. Connecting with other creative entrepreneurs proved to be the motivation and inspiration I needed to focus and move my business in the direction I needed and wanted it to go but more than anything it has kept me connected in a business that can be, at times, disconnected.
You’re probably wondering, why is Ashley sharing all this with us? Well, maybe everything I’ve shared above sounds familiar? Maybe you’re in the early stages of your entrepreneurial growth or maybe you’re struggling with motivation? Maybe you feel disconnected?
This made me think…how could I share with other young creative entrepreneurs that connection? How could I guide and inspire them? If I was them now, what would be a way I’d want to connect and reach others like me? To learn, grow, and connect but more than anything be inspired.
